Eclipses and Zodiacal sign of a Country.

The Influence of Eclipses on Nations: An Astrological Perspective

Reproduced from EST October 2015

Eclipses, both solar and lunar, exert a significant influence on the zodiacal signs of specific places and countries. By using the formula I've developed to determine a location's unique zodiacal sign, we can gain significant insights into upcoming events within that country or region. This analysis is a powerful tool for predicting events, especially when used in conjunction with planetary transits and the annual horoscope of the country or place in question.

How Eclipses Exert Their Influence: The Rules of Engagement

The impact of an eclipse is determined by the house it occupies relative to the zodiacal sign of a specific location.

  • Sensitive Houses: Eclipses that fall in sensitive signs relative to the location's sign can be harmful. The 1st, 4th, 8th, and 12th houses are always considered challenging placements for an eclipse. The 5th, 9th, and Badhak (obstructing) signs are also generally unfavorable.
  • House Signification: An eclipse tends to harm the general significations of the house where it falls (as counted from the location's zodiacal sign). This effect is amplified when the eclipse occurs in a "bad Tara" (an unfavorable constellational relationship) from the location's own natal star.
  • The Upachaya Houses: An eclipse generally gives good results when it falls in the Upachaya houses (3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th). However, there are important caveats:
    • An eclipse in the 10th house can harm the ruler, the ruling government, and the sovereignty of the country. It is certain that if the involved Nakshatra falls in a bad Tara order.
    • An eclipse in the 6th house can indicate an increase in conflicts, disease, or terrorist events.
  • Special Rule for Rulers and Sovereignty: Eclipses, whether solar or lunar, that fall in the 1st house, the 10th house, or any sign trine to these two houses (i.e., the 1st, 5th, 9th, 10th, 2nd, and 6th houses), pose a direct threat to the "king and kingdom"—the national leader and the stability of the government.
  • The Combined Effect: I have observed that out of a pair of adjacent eclipses (one solar and one lunar), one often covers the sensitive 1st/10th house trine, while the other impacts another critical house (such as the 1st, 4th, 8th, 12th, or Badhak house). Furthermore, the ascendant rising in that specific location at the time of the eclipse plays a crucial role in triggering the event.

Case Studies: Eclipses and Their Aftermath

Section 1: Events Threatening Rulers and National Sovereignty

a) India (2014): India's sign is Capricorn. A total lunar eclipse occurred on April 15, 2014, in Libra. The sign Libra is the 10th house from Capricorn. Immediately following this 10th-house eclipse, the ruling government was changed in a decisive general election.

b) Sri Lanka (2014): Sri Lanka's sign is Gemini. A total lunar eclipse took place on October 8, 2014, in Pisces. Pisces is the 10th house from Gemini, and the eclipse occurred in an evil Tara from the country's natal star. The government of Sri Lanka was changed by a general election soon after.

c) Egypt (2011): Egypt's capital, Cairo, is ruled by the sign Pisces. The last eclipse before the resignation and flight of its ruler, Hosni Mubarak, fell on January 4, 2011, in Sagittarius—the 10th house from Pisces.

d) Libya (2011): Libya's sign is Virgo. An eclipse on July 1, 2011, fell in Gemini, the 10th house from Virgo. This 10th-house eclipse proved disastrous for its tyrannical ruler, Muammar Gaddafi, who met his end soon after. The agitation against him had broken out after a previous eclipse on January 4, 2011, which fell in Sagittarius, the country's 4th house.

e) Death of Polish President (2010): Poland's sign is Capricorn (Sravana star).

  • A lunar eclipse on December 31, 2009, occurred in Gemini, a sign trine to the 10th house (Libra). The eclipse star, Ardra, was in an evil Tara from Poland's natal star.
  • A solar eclipse on January 15, 2010, was particularly striking. At Warsaw, the Moon was at 29°59' of Sagittarius, on the absolute cusp of entering Capricorn, the country's natal sign. This precipitated the plane crash on April 10, 2010.

f) Fall of Iraq (2003): Iraq's sign is Sagittarius. The last lunar eclipse before the US invasion was on November 20, 2002, in Taurus. Taurus is trine to the 10th house (Virgo) of Iraq. At the time of the eclipse in Baghdad, the ascendant was Virgo, exactly in the 10th house.

g) Death of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru (1964): The last lunar eclipse before his death was on December 30, 1963, in Gemini (Aadra star). Gemini is trine to India's 10th house (Libra), and Aadra falls in a bad Tara from India's natal star (Sravana). The ascendant at the time of the eclipse in New Delhi was Aries, India's 4th house, which aspects the 10th.

h) Death of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri (1966):

  • The lunar eclipse on December 8, 1965, occurred in Taurus, a sign exactly trine to India's natal sign (Capricorn).
  • The preceding solar eclipse on November 23, 1965, fell in Scorpio (Anuradha star). Scorpio is the Badhak sign for India's Capricorn sign, and Anuradha falls in a bad Tara.

i) Assassination of Smt. Indira Gandhi (1984):

  • The solar eclipse on May 30, 1984, fell in Taurus, trine to India's zodiacal sign. At the time, the ascendant in New Delhi was Scorpio, the Badhak sign for India.
  • The subsequent lunar eclipse on June 13, 1984, was even more direct: both the Moon and the rising ascendant were in Scorpio, the country's Badhak sign.

j) Assassination of Bangladesh President (1975): Bangladesh's sign is Cancer.

  • The lunar eclipse on May 25, 1975, was in Scorpio, trine to the country's sign. The ascendant at Dacca was Cancer, the country's own sign.
  • The solar eclipse on May 11, 1975, was in Aries, the 10th house of the country. Again, the ascendant was Cancer.

k) Death of Pakistan President (1988): Pakistan's sign is Aries.

  • The lunar eclipse on March 3, 1988, occurred in Leo, trine to Pakistan's sign. The ascendant at Islamabad was also Leo.
  • The solar eclipse on March 18, 1988, was in Pisces, the 12th house from Pakistan's sign, while the ascendant was Capricorn, the 10th house.

l) Assassinations of US Presidents: Many US presidents met their end during office, and each case fits this theory. The USA's sign is Aquarius.

  • Abraham Lincoln (1865): The lunar eclipse on April 10, 1865, was in Virgo, the 8th house from the USA's sign. The ascendant at Washington D.C. was Libra, trine to the country's sign.
  • John F. Kennedy (1963): The solar eclipse on July 20, 1963, was in Cancer. Cancer is trine to the 10th house (Scorpio) of the country. The ascendant at the time was Libra, trine to the country's sign.

Section 2: Events of General Misfortune and Disasters

a) Partition of Sudan (2011): Sudan's capital, Khartoum, is ruled by Libra. The solar eclipse before its partition was on July 1, 2011, in Gemini, a sign trine to the country's zodiacal sign.

b) Sendai Earthquake, Japan (2011): The epicenter's sign is Leo. The preceding solar eclipse on January 4, 2011, was in Sagittarius, a trine sign. Japan's capital, Tokyo, is also ruled by Leo.

c) Van Earthquake, Turkey (2011): The epicenter's sign is Aquarius, and the capital Ankara's sign is Gemini. The preceding solar eclipse on July 1, 2011, was in Gemini—the 5th from the epicenter and equal to the country's sign.

d) Bhopal Gas Tragedy, India (1984): Bhopal is ruled by the sign Scorpio. The last solar eclipse before the event was on November 23, 1984, directly in the sign of Scorpio.

e) Greek Debt Crisis (2015): Greece's sign is Leo.

  • A lunar eclipse on April 4, 2015, fell in Virgo, the 2nd house (finance) from Leo. The ascendant was Gemini, the 11th house (earnings). The eclipse ruined matters of the houses concerned.
  • The solar eclipse on March 20, 2015, fell in Pisces, the 8th house (destruction, crisis) from Leo.

f) Nepal Earthquake (2015): The epicenter's sign is Scorpio. The preceding solar eclipse on March 20, 2015, was in Pisces, a trine sign. Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, is ruled by Libra. The preceding lunar eclipse on April 4 was in Virgo, the 12th house from Libra's sign, and in an evil Tara.

g) Kedarnath Floods, India (2013): The location's sign is Capricorn. The preceding solar eclipse on May 10, 2013, was in Aries, the 4th house from the place's sign.

h) Nepal Royal Palace Massacre (2001): Nepal's sign is Libra. The last lunar eclipse was on January 1, 2001, in Gemini, which is exactly trine to Nepal's sign.

i) Jallianwala Bagh Massacre (1919): The location's sign is Pisces (at an extreme junction, so may also work as Aquarius). The last lunar eclipse was in Gemini, the 4th house from Pisces. The last solar eclipse was in Scorpio, trine to Pisces.

Appendix: How to Calculate the Zodiacal Sign of a Place

1.    Take the longitude and latitude of the place in question. Convert them into decimal degrees. Use North (N) and East (E) coordinates as positive (+) values, and South (S) and West (W) coordinates as negative (-) values.

2.    Formula: Zodiacal Degrees = 9 * (Latitude – Longitude)

3.    Make the resultant figure positive and within 360 degrees by adding or subtracting 360 as many times as needed.

4.    Convert this degree value into a Zodiac sign, providing 30 degrees for each sign (e.g., 0-30° is Aries, 30-60° is Taurus, etc.).

(Note: The author has a further refinement step: "The value we get should be increased by the nearest Navamsa-pada," which is a personal technique. For political purposes, the author suggests taking the coordinates of the capital and extending the influence to the last limit of the calculated star within the same sign.)
