The formula for calculating the Zodiacal sign of a place is a beautiful invention in predictive astrology. It has many uses; one is to know probable trends of elections.

First, observe the annual chart of the capital of the state or country. The chart of the moment of the Sun’s transition over the zodiac sign of the capital is the annual chart of the state or country.

Notes on Remedial Measures

 Some Notes on Remedial Measures

The ultimate consciousness is the sole true existence in this universe. Vedic scriptures declare: “सर्वं खल्विदं ब्रह्म नेह नानास्ति किंचन” (Chhandogya Upanishad 3/14/1; also, Mundaka Upanishad 2/2/11), meaning, "All this is indeed Brahman; there is nothing other than Brahman anywhere." And, “एकोऽहम् बहुस्याम” (Chhandogya Upanishad, referencing the theme of One becoming many, e.g., 6/2/3), signifying, "I am One; may I become many." This ultimate reality is not merely one or many but rather beyond count or measure. Vedanta philosophy calls it Advaita – the non-dual Brahman. Perhaps it can be conceptualized as a conscious field within which all quantum fields reside. It permeates all living and non-living things in the universe. It manifests in varying degrees of awakened consciousness across all creatures and plants, being most pronounced in human beings, followed by other living creatures, and then plants.

Some interesting astrological facts about the Moon mission

Some interesting facts about the Moon mission

I think the formula for calculating the zodiac sign of a place is universally applicable. Just observe these two events related to the Moon.

1-   Apollo 11 was the space flight that landed the first humans on the Moon, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin Jr., at 20h 17m 39 s UTC on July 20, 1969. Armstrong and Aldrin landed at the Tranquility Base (0.67416° N and 23.47314° E) on the Moon and became the first humans to walk on the Moon on July 21, 2h 56m UTC. Now let us see the Moon's position astrologically and the site's zodiac sign.

Zodiacal sign of countries and their freedom dates

!!
  • The dates of freedom for most countries are in proper order with their capital`s zodiac sign! The moon sign on these dates is mostly 1st, 5th, 7th, and 9th from the capital`s zodiac sign, the trine, and 7th places. Sometimes it is the 10th, but it is also logical, as the 10th house is a house of the kingdom or ruler.

A New technique of predicting poll:Goa assembly election 2017

!!Goa state assembly election 2017!!
(Reproduced from the March issue of Modern Astrology)

The formula for calculating the Zodiacal sign of a place is a wonderful invention in the field of predictive astrology. It has many uses, and one of them is to know probable trends of elections.
First, observe the annual chart of capital. The chart of the moment of the Sun's transition over the zodiac sign of the capital is the annual chart of the state or country.
Secondly, observe the transit position of planets on the day of the election over the zodiac sign of the capital.
Thirdly, we can examine the ascendant chart at the beginning of the election. But the annual chart of the state or country alone is capable of providing definite trends of the upcoming election in a given year.

Timing of your Employment

!!Timing of your Employment!!
(Reproduced from EST October 2016)

There are four principal aims (Purusharthas) in Vedic philosophy: Dharma (righteousness), Artha (wealth), Kama (desires), and Moksha (liberation). Among these, Artha—the pursuit of wealth—is essential for meeting basic human needs such as food, clothing, and shelter. In modern life, employment or self-employment is the most common means to acquire Artha. Work and income are therefore tightly interwoven.

Within this framework, let us explore the astrological indicators for obtaining a job or starting a business.

Noble Name of a Newborn

!!Noble Name of a Newborn!!
Reproduced from EST Dec 2015 issue.
Choosing an Auspicious Name for a Newborn: An Astrological Method

A common tradition today involves naming a newborn baby according to an alphabet suggested by the ‘Avakahada Chakra’ (a traditional phonetics-based system), which is based on the natal Moon's Nakshatra (lunar mansion). However, it is seldom observed that the names of great historical and contemporary personalities have strictly adhered to this rule. Neither the names of Lord Rama nor Lord Krishna, for instance, appear to have been chosen according to this specific system. In the modern era, the names of influential figures like Mohan Das Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Amitabh Bachchan, and Sachin Tendulkar, among others, also do not consistently follow this Nakshatra-alphabet rule.

So, what is the correct method to find a truly "lucky" or auspicious name? I employ the following method, which is deeply supported by an analysis of the natal horoscope.

1. Deciding the First Devanagari Script Letter of a Name

This is the most crucial step.

a) According to the 'Varga' (Phonetic Group) of a 'Good Planet' in the Horoscope:

The first letter should belong to the Varga (phonetic group) associated with a "good planet" in the child's horoscope. To determine a "good planet," we should examine its placement in a benefic house, its intrinsic strength, and its lordship of auspicious houses. All three factors – placement, strength, and lordship – are equally important. However, experience suggests that the placement of a planet often carries more weight, a principle underscored by the predominant focus on planetary positions in houses in ancient astrological works. For a finer analysis, the Navamsa (D-9 chart) can also be examined, but it's important to remember that the concept of house lordship (except for the Navamsa ascendant lord) is generally not applied to divisional charts in the same way as in the Rasi chart.

Observe the table of Devanagari letter Vargas, their corresponding letters, and Varga's ruling planet:

(Note: Traditionally, Sa, Sha, Sha, Ha group might have varied rulerships; here Rahu is indicated, sometimes Moon shares influence for some letters in this group).

(For compound Devanagari letters: क्ष (Kṣha) can be considered under ‘K’ Varga; त्र (Tra) under ‘T’ Varga; and ज्ञ (Jñya) under ‘CH’ (Ja) Varga.)

b) Corroboration with 'Avakahada Chakra' and Nakshatra Principles:

The chosen first letter should also align with the 'Avakahada Chakra' principles by corresponding to a Nakshatra whose ruling planet is beneficial in the horoscope. It would be even better if this initial letter belongs to a Nakshatra that falls in an auspicious Tara (constellational relationship – e.g., Sampat, Kshema, Sadhana, Mitra, Parama Mitra) from the natal Moon's Nakshatra.

2. Spelling in English (Roman Script) – First Alphabet Numerology

Since the Roman script is widely used with English, we must also consider its numerological implications.

Deciding the First English Alphabet:

Every planet rule over certain numbers, and every English alphabet is assigned a numerical value. The number of the first letter of the English spelling of the name should correspond to a "good planet" as determined from the horoscope. Numbers associated with functionally benefic planets is generally good, while those of functional malefics may be challenging. However, this should not be followed blindly, as planets can acquire the significance of other houses more predominantly based on their overall disposition. Nevertheless, this principle holds weight, and in situations of confusion, it is a reliable guide. (House cusps should be calculated using the the Sripati method for accuracy).

Planets and Their Numbers:

  • Sun: 1 and 4
  • Moon: 2 and 7
  • Mars: 9
  • Mercury: 5
  • Jupiter: 3
  • Venus: 6
  • Saturn: 8
  • (According to some, Rahu is a co-ruler of number 4, and Ketu of number 7. I also recommend this view.)

1-  3. Finalizing a Name – Overall Numerological Sum

A surname is generally not a primary concern, as it is inherited. I also do not give significant importance to common middle names (e.g., ‘Kumar’, ‘Singh’, ‘Bai’, ‘Nath’, ‘Lal’, ‘Das’, ‘Devi’), as they are often not integral to the unique identity conveyed by the given name. Consider only the essential part of the name that is unique to the individual.

Procedure:

Write down the English spelling of the proposed name. Assign the numerical digit to each letter according to the table above and calculate the total. Reduce this sum to a single digit (e.g., if the sum is 22, it becomes 2+2=4). This final single-digit number should belong to a planet that is favorably related to the 10th or 11th house of the horoscope (either in the Rasi or Navamsa chart). Trine houses (5th, 9th) from the 10th and 11th houses are also acceptable.

Ideally, the final name number should correspond to a planet that is a strong ‘Karak’ (significator) for a particular house, whose positive results are predominantly desired in the native's life.

The serial number of the Navamsa occupied by the natal Moon, and the number owned by the natal Moon's Nakshatra lord can also exert a significant influence.

Generally, Upachaya houses (3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th) are good for the final name number, though each has its specific characteristics. The 2nd house is also good. The 7th house is preferable primarily for Aquarius and Capricorn ascendants.

I do not place much faith in other numerology systems that depend solely on the date of birth. However, if the birth date number (Moolank – sum of birth date digits) and the destiny number (Bhagyank – sum of all digits in DDMMYYYY) happen to belong to a planet that is auspicious as per the native's horoscope, this can prove beneficial for the individual's life and career.

4. General Precautions and Further Considerations

  • Always avoid the Devanagari Varga and the numerological number of a planet that is strongly related to the 8th and 12th houses, unless that planet also strongly signifies and favors an auspicious house.
  • Exercise caution when using the number of the planet that rules the 64th Navamsa from the ascendant (a traditionally malefic point).
  • The 6th House: The Devanagari Varga of a planet primarily related to the 6th house may bring enmity, disputes, and early struggles. This is almost certain to occur if the numerical digit of the first English letter and the final sum of the name also belong to a planet predominantly signifying the 6th house. However, the 6th house is also an Upachaya house (signifying growth through effort) and is trine to the 10th (profession) and 2nd (wealth) houses.1 Thus, while initially challenging, it can ultimately contribute to name and fame.
  • In any confusing situation, always give preference to the Varga/number of the ascendant lord, the Navamsa ascendant lord, or even the natal Moon's Nakshatra lord (if it is a strong benefic).
  • The number and Varga of a planet involved in a powerful ‘Viparita Raja Yoga’ (a yoga formed by lords of malefic houses in other malefic houses) or a strong cancellation of debility (Neecha Bhanga) in the Navamsa chart can be considered good. I recommend recognizing powerful cancellation of debility under these two conditions:
    • a) The debilitated planet is conjoined with or aspected by its sign dispositor (the lord of the sign it occupies). This condition can also reduce the blemish of placement in evil houses. A sign exchange (Parivartana Yoga) between the debilitated planet and its sign dispositor can also cancel the blemish of debility, provided both planets are not themselves posited in evil houses (6th, 8th, 12th).
    • b) The debilitated planet is conjoined with an exalted planet, preferably in an auspicious house.
  • Generally, we cannot find any planet that is an absolute ‘Karak’ of only good houses. We must select a planet that has more significations for auspicious houses than for challenging ones.
Important Disclaimer: I wish to advise readers not to hastily alter their existing names after reading this article by adding or removing letters. This guidance is primarily intended for naming newborns. Names function according to the rules of language, tradition, and customary usage, and their power does not solely depend on our choice of spelling. Even forced nicknames or pet names given by the community or family often work out well, as if guided by destiny.

Now let us observe some examples:-

1-    Mahatma Mohan das Gandhi*:- October 2, 1869, at 8h 40m at Porbandar, Gujarat.
*- I am giving this horoscope as I found it traditionally used by many astrologers. The time zone in India before 1905 was very dubious and confusing.

  • First Devanagari Letter 'M' (म): Belongs to the Varga of Saturn. Saturn is the Yogakaraka (most beneficial planet) for Libra ascendant, well-posited in the 2nd house (Scorpio, trine to the 10th house) in Rasi, and its own Navamsa (Capricorn) in the 9th house (Navamsa chart).
  • 'Avakahada Chakra' aspect: The first syllable 'Mo' (मो) corresponds to Purva Phalguni Nakshatra, ruled by Venus.4 Venus is his ascendant lord and also the Navamsa ascendant lord (Libra Navamsa), well-placed in its own sign in both Rasi (1st house) and Navamsa (1st house).
  • First English Letter 'M' (Numerical Value 4): Number 4 belongs to Rahu and Sun.
    • Rahu is exceptionally placed in the 10th house (Cancer) in Rasi, conjoined with the 10th lord Moon. In Navamsa, Rahu is in the 7th house (Aries), aspected by Mars (its Navamsa sign dispositor).
    • Sun, as the 11th lord, is generally good.5 Its Rasi placement in the 12th house (Virgo) is not ideal by general rules, but for Libra ascendant, the 11th house is also a Badhaka (obstructing) house, and the Badhaka lord in the 12th is a mitigating factor (Badhakasthana Adhipati in Vyaya Sthana). In Navamsa, the Sun is in the 2nd house (Scorpio), trine to the 10th house, which is good. This configuration gave him immense struggles, but ultimately proved Yogakaraka.
  • Name 'MOHAN' Numerological Sum: (M)4 + (O)7 + (H)5 + (A)1 + (N)5 = 22 => 2+2 = 4. This again points to Rahu/Sun.
  • Birth Date Numerology: Basic number (Moolank) is 2 (from birth date 2nd), ruled by the Moon. His Moon is powerfully posited in its own sign, Cancer, in the 10th house. Destiny number (Bhagyank) is (2+1+0+1+8+6+9=27 => 2+7) = 9, ruled by Mars.6 Mars is well-positioned in the ascendant (Libra) in Rasi, and with its dispositor Venus in Navamsa (Libra).
  • Analysis of "Nathuram" Godse (from Gandhi's perspective/chart):
    • The first letter 'Na' (न) is from Jupiter's Varga. For Gandhi's Libra ascendant, Jupiter is the challenging 3rd and 6th lord (enemy), posited in the 7th house (Maraka Sthana - death-inflicting house) in Taurus.
    • 'N' has a numerical value of 5, ruled by Mercury.7 Mercury is the 12th lord (loss, separation) for Gandhi, conjoined with the Maraka Mars.
Sum of "NATHURAM": (N)5+(A)1+(T)4+(H)5+(U)6+(R)2+(A)1+(M)4 = 28 => 2+8=10 => 1+0 = 1. Digit 1 is ruled by the Sun. As noted, Gandhi's Sun, though a Badhaka lord in the 12th (which can be a form of Viparita Yoga), retained its potential for causing ultimate harm or "killing nature" in this specific context.

Nobel laureate Ravindra Nath Tagore*:-  May 7, 1861 at 2h 51m at Kolkata.

The first letter of his name is ‘Ra’, which belongs to Varga of Moon, and the numerical value of ‘R’ is ‘2’, which is also owned by Moon.
The moon is well posited in the ascendant as a 5th lord, having sign exchange with exalted ascendant lord Jupiter. In the Navamsa, it is posited in the 6th house within the aspect of the navamsa sign depositor, Saturn. The 5th house stands for education and reason, and with the help of Jupiter, we can relate it to literature.
The final sum of the digits of his name is   2+ 1+ 6+ 1+ 5+4+2+1=22, again 2+2=4. This number is ruled by Rahu and the Sun. The Rahu is well posited in the 10th house, and the Sun is exalted in the 2nd house.
His basic number ‘7’ is also ruled by the Moon, and his destiny number is ‘1’, ruled by the Sun.

Superstar AMITABH Bachchan: October 11, 1942 at 16h 00m war time at Allahabad.

(Note: Planets Sun, Mercury, and Mars are stated to be in the 9th house in the Chalit (cuspal) chart).

  • First Devanagari Letter 'A' (अ) and Numerical Value '1': Both are ruled by the Sun. For an Aquarius ascendant, the Sun is the 7th lord.8 If in the 9th house (Libra) in Chalit, it is with its dispositor Venus (9th lord), which is excellent. In Navamsa, the Sun is in the 11th house in its own sign, Leo – an outstanding placement. The 7th house can relate to public image and performance (aspects of acting), and the 9th is the house of luck.
  • Name 'AMITABH' Numerological Sum: (A)1+(M)4+(I)1+(T)4+(A)1+(B)2+(H)5 = 18 => 1+8 = 9. Number 9 is ruled by Mars.9 Mars is the 10th lord (profession) for the Aquarius ascendant.10 If in the 9th house (Libra) with Venus in Chalit, it is powerful. In Navamsa, Mars is in the 10th house (Scorpio) with an exalted Jupiter, and aspected by its Navamsa sign dispositor Moon (from Cancer), indicating a powerful Neecha Bhanga (cancellation of debility) for the Moon if it were debilitated, or simply strengthening Mars. This is an excellent configuration for a career.
Birth Date Numerology: Basic number is 2 (1+1 from 11th), owned by the Moon. If the Moon is in the 9th house (Libra) in Chalit, it's good. Destiny number is (1+1+1+0+1+9+4+2=19 => 1+9=10 =>) 1, ruled by the Sun.
