An
Astrological Analysis of Illicit Sexual Relationships
The modern
generation sometimes finds itself straying from traditional values, influenced
by differing cultural norms or, at times, persuaded by manipulative or
unscrupulous individuals who may even be trusted figures within one's family or
social circle. Teenagers, in particular, are often not fully aware of the
emotional and spiritual significance of chastity and may find themselves in
compromising situations through seemingly trivial friendships or betrayal by
cunning peers or relatives. Such experiences involving illicit acts can lead to
long-lasting repentance and emotional turmoil. The individuals who take
advantage of such innocence often operate with a low moral compass, leaving
behind a painful memory.
For those
who hold chastity as an important value and wish to safeguard themselves or
their children from such negative encounters, this article offers some
astrological insights. Parents of young women, in particular, may find this
information useful.
Within
Eastern culture, celibacy (Brahmacharya) plays an important role, not merely as
a way to discard purposeless physical pleasure but as a method to cultivate and
uplift one's spiritual energy (Ojas). Sexual energy is considered a
foundational point of hidden spiritual potential, and its sublimation is always
advised for progress in any worthwhile endeavor.
It is also
important to distinguish between love and sex. Love can be seen as a divine
instinct, while sexual desire is often driven by a more primal, animal
instinct. It is said that only God and a mother can love a person
unconditionally.
To begin an
analysis, one must first furnish the horoscopes of the individuals involved
(e.g., the girl and the suspected boy) according to the Chitra Paksha (Lahiri)
Ayanamsa and ensure the birth time is corrected to the minute. In addition to
the standard chart, there are some special points to calculate for this
specific analysis:
1.
Navamsa Longitude of the Moon: This can be derived by multiplying the Moon's Rasi longitude
by nine and adjusting the resulting figure to be within the 0-360 degree range
of the zodiac.
2.
Special Marriage Point (SMP): Add the longitudes of the 1st lord and the 7th lord. Let's
call the result (X). Then, multiply (X) by nine and adjust the figure to be
within the zodiac. This point is a sensitive indicator of marriage or
marriage-like relationships. This is relevant as the type of relationship
discussed here can be considered a form of ‘Gandharva Vivah’ (a marriage by
mutual consent, often without traditional ceremony).
Astrological
Indicators of Vulnerability
The person
involved in such a transgression often comes from a close circle of relations
or friends. Certain astrological combinations can indicate a propensity for
relationships with pre-familiar individuals. Let us examine these first.
Combinations
for Relationships with Known Persons:
- a) The lord of the Vargas
(divisional charts, especially Navamsa) that fall on the 7th house cusp is
related to the ascendant or its lord.
- b) Venus or the 7th lord is
related to the 1st or 11th house. The 6th house is also a significant
placement for the 7th lord for this purpose.
- c) Venus is hemmed between the Sun
and the Moon (Papa Kartari yoga if they are within one sign on either
side) or has any other strong relationship with the luminaries.
- d) A combination from Satya
Jatakam that I have found to be unfailingly accurate on practical
grounds states: "If the 5th lord is posited in the 6th house in a
female star, the native marries his uncle's daughter." I have found
this combination to be true, though often the relationship manifests as a
secret, transgressive act. In one case, the native married his real
maternal uncle's daughter.
- e) Dr. B.V. Raman, in "A
Catechism of Astrology," also suggested rules for "incestuous
debauchery":
- The 7th lord, Mars, and Venus
are ill-posited and occupy an "indivisible half" of the
horoscope. I have observed this often applies to the 4th house, which
stands for home, relatives, immediate surroundings, village, and moral
chastity.
- Affliction to the 8th house. As
the house of sin and secrets, its affliction in any manner can give a
tendency for indulging in transgressive acts of any kind.
General
Planetary Positions Enhancing Illicit Tendencies:
- Venus, the primary Karaka
(significator) for sexual life, being afflicted by malefics, especially
Mars. Its close association with the Sun or Moon is also a factor. When a
planet is associated with the Sun (combust), its inner significations may
increase, but its outer significations can be spoiled. Thus, Venus with
the Sun might increase interest in music and art but can harm or spoil
one's relational life. The Moon, being a sensitive planet of mind and
emotions, when associated with Venus, can increase the desire for sensual
pleasure.
- When Venus is posited just
behind the Moon (in the 12th from it), it can also increase sensual
desires. As a fast-moving planet passes over a slower one, it can absorb
its nature; here, the Moon, as the Karaka of the mind, can be filled with
such sensual urges from Venus.
- An association of Venus with
both Mars and Saturn is not a desirable feature for maintaining a chaste
life. If the Vargas (Navamsa, etc.) of Venus and Mars fall on the
ascendant, it can stimulate a person toward a life of sensual indulgence.
- The position of Venus in the
signs of Cancer, Virgo, or any dual sign (Gemini, Sagittarius), except
Pisces (its sign of exaltation), can sometimes give rise to perturbed
sexual desires and involvements. The ascendant and 7th lord in dual signs,
if also afflicted, can indicate multiple relationships or marriages.
- Affliction to the 7th house and
its lord is also responsible for adulterous tendencies. The ascendant lord
in the 7th house can sometimes give untoward results related to one's
sexual or married life.
- The 5th lord of the Rasi chart
posited in the 1st or 7th house in the Navamsa chart, or the 7th lord of
the Rasi chart posited in the 5th or 11th house in the Navamsa chart,
gives a strong tendency for love marriage, which often materializes.
- A relationship between the
ruling planets of a horoscope (such as the ascendant lord, Moon's
Nakshatra lord, or Moon's sub-lord) and the 8th or 12th house (by
placement or lordship) can stimulate a person toward secretive or sinful
acts.
- Birth in Bhadra Karana or during
cruel ‘Nitya Yogas’ such as Vyatipat and Vaidhriti can also stimulate a
native towards transgressive deeds, which may be sexual in nature.
- The 4th house and the Moon stand
for mental purity and chastity, while the ascendant represents the self in
all aspects. The association of these points with malefics, especially
Rahu – a shadowy planet cunning enough to deceive Lord Vishnu – can make a
person highly hypocritical, especially when Rahu is associated with the
4th house, its lord, the ascendant, its lord, or the Moon, even in the
Navamsa chart. One should not blindly rely on such people, whatever their
outward persona may be.
Parents must
also be aware of the psychological behavior of their children. When they change
suddenly – becoming religious beyond what is normal, excessively aggressive, or
showing too much politeness – any such sudden change may be taken as a
pre-warning of something amiss. This is the time to pay great attention to
them.
Synastry:
Rules for Mutual Attraction and Transgression
Now, let us
examine the rules of synastry (chart comparison) that indicate a strong,
potentially illicit, attraction between two individuals.
1.
Observe
the sign position of Mars in the girl's horoscope. If the same sign, or the
sign 7th from it, is occupied by Saturn or Rahu (especially Saturn) in the
boy's horoscope, this can create a strong mutual deviation factor where the
girl herself may not hesitate to initiate contact.
2.
Observe
the sign position of Mars in the girl's horoscope. If the same sign, or the
sign 7th from it, is occupied by Venus or the Moon in the boy's horoscope, it
creates attraction. Mutual 1st-7th or 1st-1st (conjunction) positions of Venus
and Moon in both horoscopes also attract each other.
3.
The
lord of the ascendant sign and the lord of the ascendant Nakshatra of the girl
are related to the 8th house of the boy (as a Karaka planet for his 8th house).
Similarly, the Moon's sign lord and Nakshatra lord of the boy are related to
the 8th house of the girl.
4.
The
7th sign and its trine signs, as counted from the boy's Navamsa ascendant, are
considered equivalent to Venus for him. For girls, these positions equate to
Mars. If the female's natal Mars is posited in one of these
"Venus-equivalent" signs (7th or its trines from the boy's Navamsa
Lagna), she may be attracted to that boy.
5.
Note
the sign where Venus is posited in the boy's Navamsa chart. If a sign trine to
it, 7th from it, or that sign itself is occupied or aspected by Mars in the
girl's Rasi chart, the girl will be attracted to the boy and may initiate the
relationship. This is also a strong combination.
6.
Generally,
the house position of Mars in the girl's chart may correspond to the house
where the boy's Venus Navamsa sign falls, or a house trine to it, or a house
from where Mars aspects that house in her own chart. For example, if the
Navamsa sign of Venus in the male's chart is Cancer (4th sign), then Mars may
be situated in the girl's 4th house, a trine house (8th or 12th), or a house
from where it can aspect her 4th house (e.g., 10th, 1st, or 12th).
7.
The
girl will surely be drawn to the boy in some manner when the 1st and 7th lords,
or the 1st and 5th lords, of the boy's horoscope are conjoined or in mutual
opposition (1st-7th aspect) in the girl's horoscope, either in the Rasi or
Navamsa chart. Whether this love is honest or ill-intentioned depends on other
factors.
8.
The
5th lord of one person is posited in the 1st or 8th house in the horoscope of
the other, either in the Rasi or Navamsa chart. If it is in the 8th house, it
points towards a transgressive or secretive relationship. The 11th house also
has some effect in this regard.
9.
If
the sub-period lord (antar-dasha lord, or sub-lord of the natal Moon in KP
terms) at the time of the girl's birth is related to the 7th house or its lord
in the boy's chart, she may enter her first relationship during its period.
These
combinations attract individuals to each other and can stimulate them toward
sexual involvement. However, a physical relationship is often not possible
without the following compatibility combinations. It is crucial to note that
these same combinations are also present in a good marriage match and are
necessary for a happy and long conjugal life.
Combinations
Necessary for Physical Compatibility (in Marriage or Otherwise):
1.
A.
Observe the Special Marriage Point (SMP) of both individuals. The Moon
sign of the opposite partner must fall in the 1st, 5th, 9th (trine); 7th, or a
sign trine to the 7th; or a square (4th, 10th) from one's own SMP. The 1st
trine and 7th sign have more weight than the squares and the other trine from
the 7th. The first sexual intercourse is typically only possible when the Moon
signs of both individuals align according to this rule. If the SMPs of both
individuals are in a mutual 6-8th or 2-12th position, early separation after
the union is indicated. B. This SMP should also fall in one of the
above-described eight auspicious signs as counted from the Navamsa ascendant of
the other person. A one-sided agreement (where the rule applies for one person
but not the other) can show early separation or hazards. C. Note the Nakshatra
lord of the SMP. Generally, it has a direct impact on the 11th house or its
lord, either in the Rasi or Navamsa chart of the other person.
2.
Observe
the Navamsa longitude of the Moon and the Nakshatra rising at that
point. This Nakshatra, or a Nakshatra in a benefic Tara from it (including the
7th Tara for this specific purpose of karmic union), should be the natal Moon's
Nakshatra of the other person. A one-sided agreement often indicates early
separation.
Timing
and Precautionary Measures
Besides
examining these rules, one should be careful while moving alone or being out
late at night, and should try to avoid the following timings for important
activities:
- a) When Bhadra Karana is rising,
it should be strictly avoided. Also, avoid cruel ‘Nitya Yogas’ such as
Vyatipat and Vaidhriti.
- b) When Gulika is posited in the
1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house from the rising ascendant at that time
(Gulika should be calculated based on the Parashari method).
