Captains and the zodiacal sign of the country

Cosmic Captaincy: An Astrological Analysis of a Nation's Success and Its Cricket Captains

Reproduced from EST April 2015.

The zodiacal sign of a nation's capital, as determined by my specific formula, acts as the country's birth chart, effectively influencing its political landscape and all other events associated with its name. By defining a country's zodiacal sign and its corresponding Nakshatra (star), we can ascertain which astrological zones are benefic and malefic for that nation.

This principle extends to the world of sports. Individuals born under zodiacal signs and stars that are beneficial for a country are more likely to bring it success and honor. Consequently, the Moon sign of a cricket team's captain—and even that of key players—can significantly influence the nation's performance in international matches. The zodiac sign of capital works effectively over the whole country in matters of politics and all other events known by the name of the country. After deciding the zodiacal sign and star as per my formula, we can ascertain the benefic and malefic areas of the zodiac for a certain country.
The men born in the benefic zodiacal area are good for a country. So the Moon sign of the Captain and even of a player decides much of the country`s performance during matches.

Step 1: Defining a Nation's Astrological Framework

First, we must establish the favorable and unfavorable zodiacal zones for a given country based on its mundane chart.

A. Identifying Favorable and Unfavorable Signs

  • Bad Signs: The signs trine to the country's 8th house, as well as the sign 7th from that trine, carry a malefic quality. Transits through these signs often bring unfavorable results.
  • Good Signs: The signs trine to the country's 7th house and the sign in the 10th house from its natal sign are good.
  • Highly Favorable Signs: Take the Rasi sign and the Navamsa sign of the country's zodiacal placement. Identify the exaltation signs of the lords of both these signs (the Navamsa sign lord's exaltation sign carries more weight). These exaltation signs, along with their trines and the 7th sign from them, are highly supportive.
  • Neutral-to-Good Signs: The signs trine to the country's zodiacal sign are neutral. Their effect depends on the transiting planet; a benefic planet gives good effects, while a malefic provides bad results.
  • Mixed-Result Signs: Signs falling in the 3rd and 6th houses from the country's natal sign can be good or bad depending on the situation. They yield negative results when transited by afflicted malefics and positive results when transited by strong benefics. A sign in the 7th house trine that is ruled by a functional malefic or the Badhaka (obstructing) lord for the country's sign also has a malefic attitude.

B. Identifying Favorable and Unfavorable Stars (Nakshatras)

1.    The House-Based Method: Mark the stars falling in the 2nd and 8th houses (using the equal house division method) from the country's natal sign. Similarly, stars falling exactly in the 7th house are generally good.

2.    The Tara Kuta Method: From the country's natal star, the stars falling in the Vipat (3rd), Pratyari (5th), and Vadh (7th) Tara groups are unfavorable. The natal star itself (1st) can be challenging when transited by afflicted malefics. Stars in the benefic Tara groups (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th) are favorable.

3.    The Dispositor Method: The stars ruled by the country's Rasi sign lord and Navamsa sign lord are generally supportive. However, this can be overridden if they fall into a bad Tara group as per the rule above.

4.    Special Rule for Captaincy - The 9th Tara: The 9th Tara (Parama Mitra or "great friend") relationship is ideal for hierarchical roles like a guru, father, ruler, or captain. It signifies a natural ability to lead and command respect within that context. Therefore, a captain whose natal star falls in the 9th Tara from the country's natal star is most welcome.

Applying the Framework: An Analysis of India

  • India's Sign/Star: Capricorn / Sravana
  • Favorable Stars for Captaincy (9th Tara): The Sun-ruled Nakshatras (Krittika, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha) fall in the 9th Tara from Sravana. Therefore, a captain with a Moon in one of these stars is astrologically ideal for leading Team India.
  • Overall Favorable Stars: Based on the above rules, the stars ruled by the Moon and Mercury are fairly good for India. The Sun's stars are also good enough, especially for leadership.
  • Overall Unfavorable Stars: Stars ruled by Rahu and Ketu are generally unfavorable.
  • Mediocre nature: Saturn's stars are medium, as they are malefic by the Tara scheme, despite Saturn being the sign lord. The star ruled by Jupiter, Venus, can also be treated as mediocre, as these are good by the Tara scheme and bad by the house lordship scheme.

Case Studies: Analyzing Captains and Their Countries

India (Capricorn, Sravana Star)

  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Successful):
    • DOB: July 7, 1981. Moon: Virgo, Uttara Phalguni star.
    • Analysis: Dhoni is arguably India's most successful captain. His Moon sign, Virgo, is a supportive trine sign from India's Capricorn. Crucially, his natal star, Uttara Phalguni, is ruled by the Sun, placing him in the ideal 9th Tara for captaincy. His Navamsa Moon in Capricorn further strengthens this excellent alignment.
  • Sourav Ganguly (Successful):
    • DOB: July 8, 1972. Moon: Taurus, Rohini star.
    • Analysis: Ganguly is another highly successful captain. His Moon sign, Taurus, is a supportive trine sign. Its star, Rohini, is ruled by the Moon, which is a favorable planet for India.
  • Mohammad Azharuddin (Successful):
    • DOB: February 8, 1963. Moon: Cancer, Ashlesha star.
    • Analysis: Azharuddin was also a good captain. His Moon is in Cancer, the 7th house, a supportive placement. The star Ashlesha is ruled by Mercury, which is one of the most favorable planets for India.
  • Sachin Tendulkar (Unsuccessful as Captain):
    • DOB: April 24, 1973. Moon: Sagittarius, Purva Ashadha star.
    • Analysis: Despite being one of the greatest players of all time, Tendulkar's captaincy tenure was unsuccessful. His Moon sign, Sagittarius, is the 12th house from India's Capricorn—an unfavorable placement. Its star, Purva Ashadha, is ruled by Venus, which is an unfavorable planet for India. This astrological disharmony likely contributed to his struggles as a leader.
  • Virat Kohli (Successful as Player & Captain):
    • DOB: November 5, 1988. Moon: Virgo, Uttara Phalguni star.
    • Analysis: Kohli's profile is identical to M.S. Dhoni's. His supportive Moon sign (Virgo) and ideal captaincy star (Uttara Phalguni, 9th Tara) gave him the astrological backing for a successful captaincy run.

Australia (Leo, Purva Phalguni Star)

  • Favorable Stars: Stars ruled by Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, and Ketu.
  • Steve Waugh (Most Successful):
    • DOB: June 2, 1965. Moon: Gemini, Punarvasu star.
    • Analysis: Waugh is ranked as one of the world's most successful captains. His Moon sign, Gemini, is the favorable 11th house from Australia's Leo sign. His star, Punarvasu (ruled by Jupiter), falls in a benefic Tara group from Australia's natal star.
  • Ricky Ponting (Successful):
    • DOB: December 19, 1974. Moon: Aquarius, Dhanishtha star.
    • Analysis: Ponting also had a stellar record. His Moon sign, Aquarius, is the favorable 7th house from Australia's Leo sign. His star, Dhanishtha (ruled by Mars), falls in a benefic Tara group.

South Africa (Sagittarius, Mula Star)

  • Graeme Smith (Successful):
    • DOB: February 1, 1981. Moon: Sagittarius, Mula star.
    • Analysis: Smith is one of the most respected captains in world cricket. His Moon sign and star are identical to his country's natal placement, creating a powerful one-to-one resonance and making him a natural leader for the nation.

Pakistan (Aries, Ashwini Star)

  • Imran Khan (Successful):
    • DOB: November 25, 1952. Moon: Aquarius, Shatabhisha star.
    • Analysis: Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to a World Cup victory, has his Moon in Aquarius, the favorable 11th house from Pakistan's Aries sign. His star, Shatabhisha (ruled by Rahu), falls in a benefic Tara group from Pakistan's natal star.
  • Misbah-ul-Haq (Successful):
    • DOB: May 28, 1974. Moon: Leo, Magha star.
    • Analysis: Misbah was known for his calm and successful captaincy. His Moon sign (Leo) and star (Magha) are both in a supportive trine relationship with Pakistan's natal sign (Aries) and star (Ashwini), giving him strong astrological backing.
